Router not allowing app to download on phone
Pandora, Twitter, Browser all work. Everything works fine on my work wifi as far as laptops go. So I am convinced it is my router. I don't have any special settings on it. My provider is Comcast. There is no MAC filter on it.
I have unplugged it for 30 secs multiple times, I have had the phone "forget" the network key, I have unplugged the modem, I have changed wireless channels based on apps like wifi analyzer. I called Belkin and was on the phone with them for 15 mins and all she did was walk me through how to change the channel.
The apps I am downloading aren't taking a lot of data so I don't mind switching to 4g to download from the store, it is just annoying that my phone is causing me grief.
Any suggestions would be great to why this is happening to me. You said your work wifi as far as "laptops" go??? So your not connecting the phone to that? Missing something there! Just not your wifi? Check your phone acct settings to make sure your gmail is still there, and check your filter settings on your phone also. But it sounds like something is wrong with your gmail acct accessing the play store, not the router since you have pretty much done everything to that!!!
The features that don't work at home work on my works wifi. All my devices work at home pin my wifi except these features on my phone. I had them working last night and this morning by chance after I turned airplane mode on and off. This was the first time I messed with that. When I got home tonight it was acting up again. So here I am debating whether or not my hardware is faulty in the phone. Look at your notification tray on top of your screen when you start having these issues.
Other programs might operate just fine but things like browser and play store won't until they turn blue. No, they are both blue. Browsing works, Pandora works, Netflix works, Scorecenter and Twitter works. The only one's that I noticed that don't work on my home wifi are facebook, downloading from the google play store and youtube app.
Facebook mobile site works so does youtube's mobile site. I have even manually inputted port and on the router for google play store and google talk. I am pretty sure there is something wrong with my phone. Edit: I just now put it in airplane mode, I powered down I pulled the battery I pulled the sim card, replaced the battery and powered on, turned off airplane mode and enabled wifi and all of the things that weren't working do now without the sim card.
Last edited: Jul 1, Yea, that's what I'm getting at. The only reason I can think of that you can't access the Play store, is that your phone is not "communicating" to it that you have a Gmail account!
It has to tell it you have a gmail acct. On that note, I'm not sure if you can delete and reinstall your gmail acct without doing a factory reset! Try deleting the app updates, the data cache, and then re-update first. I'm thinking you really might end up having to factory reset and re-initializing the gmail acct on your phone.
That'll suck, but back up everything if you go that route first! Trust me I have been thinking about this for you! LOL Edit : take it to a corporate store and let them fiddle with it first.
In this article, we will share a list of the best Android apps that can be used to control your router. All these apps are popular and available on the Google Play Store for download. We have selected these apps on a research basis, user ratings, reviews, and some of our team experience. Well, the Asus Router app makes it much easier to manage your home network. It shows you real-time traffic consumption statistics, allows you to access the router settings page, and more.
The mobile app provides you an easy way to manage, monitor, and repair your home network. You can access almost every router feature with your mobile device via this app. You can quickly check how many devices were connected, get analytics about your WiFi home network, efficiently manage the home network settings, and more. The app act as a command center for your Linksys Smart WiFi routers.
With this app, you can remote access your router settings. Once accessed, you can check for the connected device, set up guest access, set internet speed sharing limit, etc. Message 5 of What you have isn't really normal. Message 6 of IrvSp - Thanks. IP6 - current disabled Wrong Password - Are you saying she entered the wrong password for the router?
Thanks for the response. Message 7 of Message 8 of I began having this same issue after doing the latest firmware update last week? Very frustrating! Continue to get the server not found error! Streaming on my smart tv is not a problem. Just issues on iPhone and on our PC? Message 9 of Message 10 of I also have Spectrum and am wondering if they are the problem. I changed my DNS severs this morning to the google servers. That seems to be working so far. Message 11 of This does seem to have improved the issue.
I dropped the connections to WiFi on all mobile devices Forget this network and re-established the connections. This seemed to clear up one weird issue in my router log from my daughter's phone. When I review the list of 'Attached Devices', it never seems to display all of the wireless devices that are connected.
As I write this response, my iPhone is connected to the 2. Attached Devices seems to be inconsistent to me possibly not showing all devices particualy WiFi , and this maybe a symptom of the real culprit. I think there is something wrong with the wireless portion of our R unit. We have two one running in AP mode. If the problem returns DNS changes seems to have cured , I may swap them physically move the main router to AP location, change to AP mode and vice versa.
I am testing now with one Windows device, but since DNS change we have had no issue with Apple products either. Switching the Roku to 5GHz seems to have remedied that problem. Message 12 of Mine are: Message 13 of Unplugged my iMac from the Ethernet cable and was just connected to the R wirelessly. For the most part it was fine so I figured my Spectrum internet was fine.
I then noticed if I went to a website like UPS. Tried different browsers and all got on now. I then realized it smelled like a DNS issue. Also, Netgear Genie kept showing no Internet connection every few minutes even though I had connection. I saw this thread and change the R DNS lookups to the Google ones as suggested and after applying, seems like the issue magically went away. It had to have been the last firmware update for the R Message 14 of I also have Spectrum. Changing to the Google DNS also seemed to work for me.
Message 15 of Yes I have Spectrum too. Changed the DNS to googles and that is working so far! Thank You! Message 16 of Message 17 of After the DNS change I went back in and they loaded up fine. Message 18 of Did not know the Attached Devices list was worthless or potentially. Good to know. Message 19 of Message 20 of Message 21 of I tried it on my computer and ipad the same thing happened.
But when I was out and used a public wifi, everything works. My web browser worked perfectly. Please help. I tried restarting the modem and wifi, still the same. Message 22 of Nicarose This is what seemed to help me. Log in to your router type in routerlogin.
Under the 'Basic' tab select 'Internet' on lefthand navigation 4. After that, try to see if your problem is corrected. This helped me. Message 23 of IrvSp Thanks for the information! I agree it is nothing and appreciate the information. Here is mine for the same site: Traceroute has started… traceroute: Warning: security. Thank you very much for all the information and help.
Message 24 of The changing DNS worked!!! Thank you!!
